St Callistus Catholic Church is starting outdoor Masses

Before Mass

Reserve Your Attendance EACH week in advance

To ensure that we do not exceed the 40-person capacity in the courtyard, and that no one is turned away at the entrance, each person attending Mass will need to call and Reserve your spot.

There will be 2 Masses each Sunday, at 8:30 am and 10:00 am. To participate in either Mass Call Guia Gorospe (510-734-9289) Monday – Friday 8:00am – Noon starting August 26th.

Worship Aids

If you like to follow along with the prayers at Mass, bring your own worship aids such as Magnificat.  There will not be missalettes or hymnals available.

Wear a Face Covering

Guided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), those over age 3 must wear a face covering that covers the nose and mouth. No one will be allowed to enter the church without a face covering.

Arriving at Church

Arrive Early

Please arrive 20 - 30 minutes early to allow time to park and check in.

To ensure social distancing, please be mindful of your parking.

Keep Moving

Please promptly go to and from the courtyard, as we must not gather before or after Mass.

Temperature Check

Before entering the courtyard sanitize your hands with the sanitizer provided by the parish; you must also stop for a temperature check. Those with a fever may not enter.

Inside the courtyard

It is impossible for the parish to provide seating for so many reasons. You need to bring your own chairs when you come and take them with you when you leave every time you come. You will be protected from the sun with some kind of covering.

Escorted to seating area

To ensure proper social distancing, ushers will escort parishioners to your seating area.  Members of one household may sit together in one row.

6-Feet Distance

While seated, standing and walking, people who are not in the same household must remain 6 feet apart from each other.

The 10:00 am Mass will still be live streamed for the sake of those who are unable to attend in person.

The Masses will be over within 45 minutes

During the Mass there will be no kneeling in the courtyard.

People will either be standing or sitting according to what is required for the various parts of the Mass

Sign of Peace

To avoid contact, the Sign of Peace has been removed. We will offer peace in the silence of our hearts.

Communion will be given at the proper time. The Ushers will call one side at a time. After receiving communion return to your seat.

For those who are watching livestream Mass, communion will take place after the 10:00 am Mass.

Communion will be given only in the hand.

Approach the priest wearing a face covering.  Upon reaching the Priest, remove mask, place one hand under the other while keeping fingers together and receive the host. After consuming the host replace your mask.

Because of the wind, be very careful when receiving communion that the consecrated host does not fall on the ground.

After Mass

You will be exiting from the courtyard 1 side at a time. The ushers will give directions.

We cannot gather after Mass for fellowship, but do check in on Facebook to share your experience.

Confessions are now heard in the parish hall 4:00 pm – 4:45 pm on Saturdays, as announced. You can also call the parish office to make an appointment for confession at other times. Social Distancing guidelines will be followed.

Those at Risk

Those who are sick, elderly, immune-compromised or otherwise at risk for COVID-19 should not attend Mass in person.

Until further notice, Bishop Barber continues to dispense the faithful from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and holy days.

For Holy Communion to the Sick and those at Risk or Holy Anointing, please call the parish office (510-223-1153) or call Fr. Dante at 510-325-0858 for an appointment.
