FEBRUARY 7, 2021 5TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
1st reading: Job 7:1-4, 6-7
2nd reading: 1 Corinthians 9:16-19, 22-23
Gospel: Mark 1:29-39
In today’s gospel, Jesus was a busy man. From sunrise to sunset he was busy helping others. He was so passionate and engaged in His work of healing , exorcising and preaching God’s message.
But despite of these, He withdrew from work to pray. He withdrew to a deserted place to pray. It is in His communion with the Father that Jesus found strength and guidance. The reason why Jesus was close with the people was because He was close to and with the Father. Likewise, if we are close to God and listen to Him in prayer then we can also be close or in tune to and with the people in thoughts, words and deeds.
Someone said, “a person who knows how to kneel before God can stand up against anything and anyone. A person who really listens to God will not become arrogant, vain or proud.
Prayer: Lord remind me always to take time and make to pray or else I’ll go astray. Amen
