JANUARY 31, 2021 4TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
In today's Gospel, people were astonished at the teaching of Jesus, they were amazed with His miracles, and bewildered as to who He was. Why? because His words are sincere, there’s no gap between His words and His actions, His words are instructive and offer encouragement. In other words, His words are indeed “life-giving words and healing words.”
How different are Jesus’ life-giving words from our often destructive and negative use of words. Lying words destroy trust and distort truth. Deceptive words are used to advance selfish interests. Some words hurt like a poisoned arrows and some words are simply words, devoid or empty.
In this time of pandemic, there are a lot of people who are imprisoned, and need healing and liberation physically, emotionally, and spiritually. May we preach words of peace, healing, hope, joy, and light more than ever.
Prayer: Lord, let your Word give us life and healing. Amen.
