REFLECTIONS
MARCH 20, 2022 - THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT
1st Reading: Exodus 3:1-8,13-15
2nd Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:1-6,10-12
Gospel: Luke 13:1-9

In today’s gospel, Jesus underlines that the test of our spirituality is that it bears fruit in our daily lives. Just as the fig tree is expected to bear fruit and not just occupy space, let us ask ourselves today: Am I living a fruitful life? Or am I like the fig tree, merely occupying space and exhausting the soil? To whom much is given, much is also required. Let us make sure that we do not spend our lives getting all and having all, giving nothing and leaving nothing behind. When we reach our sunset years, may we not be filled with regrets that we had lived an empty, meaningless, and fruitless life.
We all have "regret instances," like "I should have bought the stuff I saw at the store," or "I should have greeted the
person," or "I should not have made that negative remark," Or "I should have taken good care of my health," and so on. But the greatest regret moment would be "I should have loved God, and other people more, when I had the chance while I was still alive.
Prayer: Lord, help me live a fruitful, meaningful life; a life full of good works and not a life full of regrets in the end. Amen.
