ADVENT OFFERING CHALLENGE
The Advent season prepares us for Christmas, the birth of Jesus. Beginning Sunday, November 30th, the parishioners are asked to make a prayer or sacrifice each day until Christmas Eve. Please check the list below. Each of your sacrifice and/or prayers will gain you a straw to place on the crib where our baby Jesus will rest.
Straws will be available on the back tables behind the pews and we invite you to come up to the altar before or after mass to place on the crèche.
By Christmas, the baby Jesus will rest on all the straws we have offered!
2024-12-01 | Read and reflect on the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12). Find ways to apply the Beatitudes in your daily life. |
2024-12-02 | Participate in First Saturday Adoration or visit a Church today. Spend time with God even for a short time. |
2024-12-03 | Reach out to someone (family or friend) you haven't spoken to in a long time. Inquire about their well being. Pray for that person. |
2024-12-04 | Offer a sacrifice and pray for all the members of your family today. |
2024-12-05 | Read a religious book. Share your insights from the book with your family during Advent and Christmas. |
2024-12-06 | Celebrate St. Nicholas’ feast day by giving small gifts (candy or cards) to your family and neighbors. |
2024-12-07 | Do something to make someone else’s holiday season better this year by volunteering at a local shelter, soup kitchen, food bank or the Parish’s St. Vincent de Paul ministry. |
2024-12-08 | Go to Mass in gratitude for Mary’s intercession or pray the rosary. |
2024-12-09 | Make snack bags or collect warm coats or blankets to give to a shelter of your choice. |
2024-12-10 | Visit the sick or elderly in a local nursing home. |
2024-12-11 | Pray the prayer of St. Francis for peace in your family, community, and the world. |
2024-12-12 | Pray for an increase in religious vocations in the world and especially for our Diocese (Oakland) through the intercession of our Lady of Guadalupe. |
